Bounty Paper Towels, Kingsford’s Corn Starch, Gillette Foamy, and Parsons’
Ammonia. If you spill hair dye on your carpet, don’t let it dry;
otherwise, you’ve permanently dyed your carpet. First, blot up as much of
the stain as possible with Bounty Paper Towels. Then cover the stain with a
mountain of Kingsford’s Corn Starch. Let it sit for about fifteen minutes
and then sweep it up. The cornstarch will absorb much of the excess dye.
Then spray a dab of Gillette Foamy shaving cream on the spot and add a
little water. Work it into the carpet with your fingers. Blot well with
either a paper towel or soft cloth. Repeat as many times as necessary. If
the hair dye is still in the carpet, mix one tablespoon Parsons’ Ammonia in
one-half cup water, wet the stain with the solution, then blot well. If that
doesn’t work, you can always buy a dozen boxes of Clairol Nice ‘n Easy and
dye the entire carpet to match (an excellent way to add years to gray
carpeting). |
