"Aluminum Foil" Common Things With Uncommon Uses

1. Sun box. Remove the top and one side from a cardboard box; line the other three sides with aluminum foil. Place plants in the box and set it near a window—the foil will reflect light, helping the stems to grow straight in stead of bent toward the sun.

2. Heat reflector. Conserve energy by taping heavy-duty foil to insulation board and placing it behind radiators and baseboard convectors.

3. Foot warmer. Cover heated stones with foil, wrap them in a towel, and place them at the bottom of your sleeping bag to warm your feet while camping in cold weather.

4. Funnel. Roll a double thickness of heavy-duty toil into a cone shape.

5. Wallpaper. Cut toil into 1-foot squares; coat one side with wallpaper paste and apply in a haphazard, over lapping fashion.

6. Specialty cake pans. Make a teddy bear birthday cake, Valentine heart cake, Christmas tree cake, or whatever shape cake you wish by forming a double thickness of heavy- duty foil into the desired contour with in a large cake pan.

7. Fishing lure. Wrap foil around a hook or safety pin. Fringe the foil so that it covers the hook and wiggles as the line is reeled in.

8. Reflector. Glue foil to a mat board or heavy cardboard to make a reflector for photography. Make three identical panels and hinge or tape them together so that the reflector stands upright and is easy to carry.

9. Platter. Make a convenient disposable dish for picnics by covering a piece of cardboard with heavy-duty aluminum foil.

10. Decorating tube. Instead of a pastry bag, use a tube of heavy-duty foil tilled with free-flowing frosting.

11. Paint masking. Crimp around doorknobs and wall phones before beginning to paint; remove when the walls are dry.
