1. Furniture renewer.
If an old piece of furniture is heavily stained, rub it with a cloth
dampened with full- strength ammonia; when the cloth gets dirty,
rinse it in water and reuse.
2. Wax remover. Before
waxing a very dirty resilient floor, remove the old polish with a
solution of 1 cup ammonia 1 gallon water.
3. Jewelry cleaner. Soak
gold jewelry in equal parts ammonia and lukewarm
water for 10
minutes; rub with a soft brush and let dry without rinsing.
4. Silverware polish.
Here’s a quick way to a brighter shine:
combine ammonia with paste polish and apply with a soft cloth to
your silver-plated and stainless-steel cutlery.
5. Brass beautifier.
Remove tarnish from solid brass by scrubbing it lightly with a soft
brush dampened with a little ammonia.
6. Oil remover. When
laundering sheets, towels, and clothes, remove absorbed body oils by
adding 1 cup ammonia to the usual amount of granular detergent. (Do
not use ammonia with chlorine bleach.)
