1. Coffee-table base. Place a thick sheet of glass with finished
edges atop several stacks of unwanted coffee-table
2. Insulation. Put book-filled
shelves on exterior walls to help keep the heat in and the cold out
and on the walls between rooms to muffle sound.
3. Bookend. Glue together three
or four old books to make an extra-heavy

discard a book, cut pages from it, apply wallpaper
paste, and use as a wainscot like panel at
the 3-foot level of a bedroom or study wall.
5. Clamp. Hold just-glued
surfaces together by weighting them down
with a couple of books.
