"Garden hoses" Common Things With Uncommon Uses

1. Water mixer. To get just the right water temperature when you have old-fashioned double faucets, slip a short section of hose over both faucets, then make a V-shaped cut in the bottom middle of the tubing.

2. Tine guard. Cut an old hose into sections and slip them over the tines of your rototiller when not in use so that they won’t bang your shins.

3. Bucket handle.
For more comfortable carrying, slit a 4- inch length of old garden hose and slip if over the handle of the bucket.
4. Scary snake.
Paint splotches on a short length of hose and leave it coiled in the garden to scare off animal intruders. Or twine it in the branches of a berry bush to frighten birds when the berries ripen.

5. Car door protector. Nail lengths of slit hose to the garage wall where the car door usually makes contact with the wall.

6. Blade guard. Slit a section of an old hose and slip it over the blade of an ax or a saw to protect the cuffing edge and prevent injuries.

7. Tree protector. Slit through one side of an old hose, then slip a section of it around the trunk of a very young tree to protect it from support ropes. Or put the hose around the ropes instead of the tree.
