Alka-Seltzer. To clean gunk from the bottom of a glass vase, fill the
vase with water, drop in two Alka-Seltzer tablets, waitten minutes, and then
rinse clean. The effervescent action of sodium bicarbonate cleans the vase.
Cascade. To clean the inside of a filthy vase, fill the vase with
warm water, add one teaspoon Cascade dishwasher detergent, and let sit
overnight. The next morning, rinse clean. The phosphates in Cascade will
loosen all the grime from the vase.
Clorox Bleach. Deodorize and sanitize a dirty vase by washing it with
a solution made from three-quarters cup Clorox Bleach and one gallon water.
Conair Pro Styler 1600. After cleaning a crystal vase, prevent water
spots from forming on the glass by using a Conair Pro Styler 1600 hair dryer
to blow warm air into the vase.
Crayola Crayons. To fix a crack in a leaking ceramic vase, choose a
Crayola Crayon that matches the color of the vase, carefully hold a lit
match under the pointed end of the crayon, and let the melted wax drip into
the crack. Let the wax cool and gently scrape away the excess.
Efferdent. To clean gunk from inside a vase, fill with water, drop in
two Efferdent tablets, wait ten minutes, then rinse thoroughly. The nontoxic
denture cleanser leaves the vase sparkling clean.
Gatorade. To make a vase, peel off the label from a clean, empty
Gatorade bottle, fill the bottle one-quarter of the way with marbles (to
weight it down), fill halfway with water, and fill with flowers.
Heinz White Vinegar. To clean hard water stains from inside a crystal
vase, fill the vase with Heinz White Vinegar, wait thirty minutes, and rinse
clean. The acetic acid in vinegar dissolves lime deposits.
Morton Salt. To clean gunk from inside a vase, fill the bottom of the
vase with Morton Salt, fill the vase with ice cubes, and then swivel the
vase for several minutes so the ice cubes and salt swirl around the vase,
cleaning it. The salt works as a gentle but effective abrasive.
Parsons’ Ammonia. To keep a crystal vase shining, fill a sink with
warm water, add one-quarter cup Parsons’ Ammonia, and wash the vase in the
solution. Then rinse thoroughly.
Uncle Ben’s Converted Brand Rice. To clean grime from inside a vase,
pour one tablespoon uncooked Uncle Ben’s Converted Brand Rice into the vase
and add one cup warm water. Cup your hand over the opening, shake
vigorously, and then rinse clean. Repeat if necessary. The rice works as a
mild abrasive, scouring the vase clean. |
