How to Patch a Carpet

Tools

Utility knife and ruler.

Materials

Double faced carpet tape, seam cement.

1. Using ruler and a utility knife cut out the damaged area of the carpet.

2. Use the cut out as a template for the patch piece of the carpet.

3. Apply double-faced carpet tape partially underneath the carpet.

4. With a small brush (you may even use a toothbrush) apply seam cement to the open edges of the carpet.

5. Insert the patch piece and press it in. (Make sure the pattern is even).

6. Weight down the area and allow the cement to set.

Note: Check with your carpet store to ascertain if your carpet is one that allows patching. Some loop types will unravel causing more damage.
