Step 13. Place a rosette on top of the casing board, and adjust it so it overhangs an equal amount on both sides of the casing. Its inside corner should be flush with the corner of the side and head jambs.

 

Step 14. Install the leg casing and rosette on the other side of the window; then measure between the two rosettes; and cut the head casing to length. Nail it to the head jamb and to the wall framing.

Step 15. Cut the apron board to length with a miter on both ends. Then cut a small mitered return for both ends of the apron and glue these in place. Hold the return with masking tape until the glue dries.

 

Step 16. Hold the apron against the bottom of the stool and check it for fit. If there is a gap in the middle, use a sharp block plane to trim the top edge. Nail the apron in place using finishing nails or a nail gun.
