Painting > Cleaning

Coppertone. To clean oil-based paint from your hands, rub a dollop of Coppertone sunscreen on your skin. Coppertone removes paint and stain from hands more gently than turpentine.

Cutex Nail Polish Remover. To clean oil-based paint from your hands, dampen a cloth with Cutex Nail Polish Remover, wipe the skin, and then wash thoroughly with soap and water.

Gillette Foamy. To wash latex paint from your skin, use a squirt of Gillette Foamy shaving cream. The emollients and moisturizers in shaving cream clean latex paint from skin.

Johnson’s Baby Oil. To clean oil-based paint from your hands, rub a few drops of Johnson’s Baby Oil on your skin and then wash thoroughly with soap and water. Baby oil is gentler than turpentine.

Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream. Noxzema Deep Cleansing Cream cleans oil-based paint from hands with more mildness than turpentine or mineral spirits.

Pam Cooking Spray. To clean oil-based paint from hands, spray Pam Cooking Spray on the skin and then wash thoroughly with soap and water.

Skin So Soft Body Lotion. To clean paint and stain from hands, rub Skin So Soft Body Lotion on the painted or stained skin.

Spray ‘n Wash. To remove varnish from hands, spray Spray ‘n Wash on the affected area, rub, then wash with soap and water. Spray ‘n Wash typically works more effectively than turpentine, without burning the skin.

Wesson Corn Oil. To clean oil-based paint from hands, use a few drops of Wesson Corn Oil rather than turpentine.
