After stripping wood, lighten stain that has permeated deeply into
the wood by applying a liberal coat of Clorox Bleach to the wood.
Let dry for several days and then neutralize the bleach with vinegar
Easy-Off Oven Cleaner.
To strip paint from metal lawn furniture or wooden picture frames,
put on rubber gloves and protective eyewear and, working outdoors or
with ample ventilation, spray Easy-Off Oven Cleaner on the item, let
sit for fifteen minutes, and then wash clean with the highest
pressure from the nozzle of a garden hose.
Heinz White Vinegar.
Neutralize any residual paint stripper chemical (or bathroom
cleaner, oven cleaner, or ammonia) by washing the stripped surface
with Heinz White Vinegar. Then rinse clean with water.
To strip milk paint from furniture or walls, wearing rubber gloves
and protective eyewear, and working outdoors or with ample
ventilation, rub full-strength Parsons’ Ammonia on the area and then
rub off with medium- grade steel wool.
To strip the paint off wooden furniture, put on rubber gloves and
protective eyewear and spray Scrubbing Bubbles on the furniture. Let
sit until the paint or varnish bubbles up. Then use a putty knife to
scrape off the paint or use an old rag to wipe it off.
