Coca-Cola. To clean hard water stains, lime scale, or calcium build-up from a teakettle, fill the teakettle with Coca-Cola and let sit overnight. The phosphoric acid and ascorbic acid in Coke dissolve the build-up, and all you need to do is rinse the teakettle clean.

Efferdent. Is the inside of your teapot or teakettle stained? Fill it with water, drop in two Efferdent tablets, let sit overnight, then scrub with a bottle brush and rinse clean with hot water.

Heinz ‘White Vinegar. To remove stains or calcium build-up from the inside of a teakettle, pour three cups Heinz White Vinegar into the teakettle, fill the rest of the way with water, stir well, and let sit overnight. In the morning, rinse clean. The acetic acid in vinegar dissolves calcium carbonate.

Jet-Dry. To clean stains and calcium build-up from an electric teapot, pour four ounces Jet-Dry into your teakettle, fill the rest of the way with water, and let sit overnight. In the morning, rinse clean with water.
